Residents of the subdivision quickly found themselves in a fiery rendition of the popular first-person shooter game. While no demonic creatures were spotted (no verified sightings, anyway), the locals did encounter hordes of confused and panicked neighbors who may or may not have shrieked like a horde of the undead. One resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, told us: "I just wish my house hadn't been part of this bizarre marketing campaign. I guess I should be glad it wasn't a lava pit or something." Forced evacuations were orchestrated by the developers (or the RCMP, as they preferred to be called), who efficiently pulled out the big guns (evacuation vehicles) to make sure everyone had a fighting chance of survival. It's no surprise that the evacuation route was as maze-like as a DOOM map, with Winslow Drive leading out to Hammonds Plains Road, a complex labyrinth of streets that induced a bout of nostalgia in gamers everywhere. DOOM's developer, id Software, has not commented on the chaos, but sources say they may be discussing adding "North Scotia Breakout" as a new DLC pack, with a portion of the proceeds going to help those who lost their homes to the fiery hellscape. As suburban infernos go, this one definitely wins first place for its interactive and immersive experience.
