Jacob deGrom is ready for Opening Day after an impressive outing in Surprise, Arizona. The 34-year-old Texas Rangers pitcher threw 24 pitches in a minor league contest on Monday and said he thinks he'll be ready to go for the start of the season. "That's up to them," deGrom said afterwards. "I'm here to help us win. If it falls that I'm on Opening Day, that's a huge honor." DeGrom had a minor setback at the start of the spring after feeling some tightness on his left side, but he looked as good as ever in Monday's outing. He struck out five batters in two innings of work, and showed no signs of the injury. "I feel great," deGrom said. "I'm ready to go and I'm excited to get the season started." The Rangers will open the season on April 1 against the Los Angeles Angels. It's unclear if deGrom will be the starter on Opening Day, but he's certainly made a case for himself.
