Sainsbury's has announced the launch of new £2 fruit and vegetable boxes across 200 of its UK stores, in an effort to combat food waste. The supermarket's "Taste Me, Don't Waste Me" boxes will provide affordable and nutritious healthy food to those struggling with the rising cost of living. The boxes will be available in Sainsbury's fresh produce aisles in participating stores, and will contain a selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Commenting on the launch, Sainsbury's CEO Mike Coupe said: "We know that rising food prices are having a real impact on family budgets, so we are committed to providing our customers with affordable and nutritious food. Our new £2 fruit and veg boxes are a great way to help people make healthy choices without breaking the bank." He added: "We are also proud to be doing our bit to help reduce food waste. By providing these boxes, we are helping to make sure that good quality food doesn't go to waste and can be enjoyed by our customers." The boxes are a part of Sainsbury's wider commitment to reduce food waste, which includes selling wonky veg and working with FareShare to redistribute surplus food to those in need.
